The 2024 ASI Cayman Weekend Convention, held from November 22–24 in George Town, Grand Cayman, was a spiritually enriching and mission-driven gathering that brought together Adventist professionals, church leaders, and members from across the island. The weekend featured powerful worship, practical ministry initiatives, and meaningful community engagement under the banner of service and faith in action.
The convention commenced on Friday evening with a virtual Vesper Service held via Zoom. Distinguished guests included Pastor Peter Kerr, President of the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU), and Pastor Ivor Harry, President of the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (CICSDA), along with other union and conference officers. Attendees from various congregations joined the session, which was highlighted by an inspiring message from Guest Presenter, Pastor Phillip Baptist, setting a reflective and spiritually charged tone for the weekend.
On Sabbath morning, November 23, the event transitioned to the George Town Seventh-day Adventist Church, where ASI members led a marketplace ministry focus during the Sabbath School hour. Personal testimonies and practical examples of faith in the workplace demonstrated how professionals can use their platforms for witnessing and service.
During the Divine Service, the newly elected ASI Cayman board was officially installed. The ceremony was led by Pastor Ivor Harry, who charged the new leadership to serve with dedication, integrity, and a clear sense of mission in advancing the work of ASI across the Cayman Islands.
A key highlight of the afternoon was the official launch of the ASI Defibrillator Project, a new initiative designed to equip Adventist churches throughout the Cayman Islands with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This life-saving program reflects ASI’s commitment to holistic ministry—caring for both spiritual and physical well-being.
As part of the launch, attendees received emergency response training facilitated by the Cayman Islands Fire Service and the Health Services Authority’s Emergency Unit. Participants learned how to use AED devices and respond to medical emergencies, enhancing the churches’ readiness to care for members and visitors in times of need.
The weekend concluded with a spirit-filled gospel concert that brought the entire convention to a joyous and uplifting close. The concert featured performances by some of the leading Adventist gospel artists, who delivered powerful music ministry that stirred hearts and glorified God. The atmosphere was one of praise, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to service.
