Montego Bay, Jamaica – August 19, 2023
Pastor Leon B. Wellington, retired Executive Secretary of Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) Inter-American Division (IAD), was honored at a special gala banquet marking the close of ASI-IAD’s 25th Anniversary Convention. The event was held at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Pastor Wellington, who served as Executive Secretary for 20 of ASI-IAD’s 25 years, was recognized as the driving force behind the organization’s growth and development. His visionary leadership and steadfast commitment were praised as instrumental in establishing ASI-IAD as a vibrant force for lay evangelism and professional ministry across the division.
In addition to his tenure with ASI, Pastor Wellington retired from the Inter-American Division as its longest-serving Vice President. Over the course of more than 40 years of denominational service, he held several key positions, including President of the former West Indies Union. His legacy as a dedicated leader and beloved figure within the Seventh-day Adventist Church was warmly celebrated during the evening.
The recognition was especially meaningful for the newly installed ASI-IAD President, who expressed joy that one of his first official acts was to honor a leader of such high esteem and lasting impact.
Pastor Wellington’s legacy continues to inspire current and future leaders in the mission to advance Christ-centered service throughout the Inter-American region and beyond.
